My Yahoo mail and Yahoo IM just went off at the same time. They have been down for about 10 minutes. Anyone else down?

(Page 1)3. 7:53 pm ET, very down. however, was able to access mail and My Yahoo thru AOL browser. but thru my regular IE route either to My Yahoo or Mail or Messenger, still down.

10. Mine has been down all day, and hasn't improved at all. To boot, a number of sites that rely on Yahoo! stores are down too. Compuplus.com is one that comes to mind, but I am sure there are hundreds more.
I have noticed too that there seems to be a lot of latency out there today. I know Akamai last week complained that some of its services were taken down by a massive attack of some sort. No one really believed them, and independent analysts slammed them over it.
What do you suppose IS going on?

11. grrrr! i haven't been able to log in since to my yahoo account since about 10 pm est last night... 22 hours later & i still can't even get to the login page. anybody have a g-mail invite for me? i wanna jump ship!
seems like the google "cached" pages are down too... i know google's problems earlier this week had to do with the Akamai thing in which they claimed a DoS attack, but web traffic was down, not up! hmm... somethin weird is goin on. i hope it only has to do with the size/look upgrade to the yahoo mail accounts, but i doubt it.
they get an alternate email address when you sign up... they could AT LEAST send out an email or post updates on their site.

13. Hey guys!
cannot login to my yahoo ID. I know the password is good and all it shows is the white blank screen as if "still loading page."
Something else is going on ..anybody has any idea.........this problme now 30 hours old!!!

Yahoo and Google have both been hit by a DoS attack. The attack has been hitting Google, Yahoo, and other sites that include Microsoft for the past couple of hours. The attacks started this morning and it was detected by Keynote Systems, a web tracking company that is able to track the load and bandwidth on the Internet. According to Keynote they saw an "Internet performance issue" this morning.
"The availability issues were limited to several large sites, all of whom outsource their domain name server (DNS) services to Akamai. These sites dropped to near-zero availability," a spokesman for Keynote said.
The attack appears to be hitting Akamai where the DNS is being ran for Top Internet sites such as Google and Yahoo. The attack is not directly hitting the servers at Google and Yahoo, but they are targeted towards them.

15. i cant do anything on yahoo that requires logging in. I have been able to retrieve my email through my cellphone and with outlook.

16. for anybody who doesn't know, even free accounts can download yahoo mail w/ http://yahoopops.sourceforge.net/index.php
just install & set up the pop account.
and yup it's still down.

17. aaaaaghhh my yahoo mail has been down for more than 24 i can see i have email from the 'my yahoo' page but thats as far as i get then it says page unavailable when i click on mail. How can i retrieve my mail through outlook? i dont know the pop server etc but i do know im missing out on business emails . help!

18. ARRRGGHHHH as well - I'm ticked, have not been able to use login to anything on Yahoo since abou 2pm EST 6/19. Can't get into Yahoo! Fantasy to pick my drivers for today's nascar race - I'm sure there are thousands in the same boat.......

An early morning Internet attack on Tuesday took down the Web sites of Microsoft, Google, Apple Computer and Yahoo, a tracking company said.
The sites went down at 5:30 a.m. Pacific time and did not all return too normal until about 7:45 a.m. Pacific, Keynote Systems Inc. said. The outage dropped Keynote's availability rating for the Internet, which is based on the performance of 40 large companies, to 81 percent. The figure rarely goes below 99 percent."
