23. Visit oldversion.com there are plenty of old versions of many popular softwares. Yahoo 6 sort of sucks. The new skin too is a bit messy.

I'll have to click the 'format' button to change my font and colour. By default, its closed and you'll have to ope it.

I think this is still a beta version. The previous one was better alright, the new one has been sexed up (probably as a competetion for MSN Messenger) and looks more complicated. They've shuffled the menus and its a bit hard to get used to.

25. I got my old Yahoo back!!!! :) Thanks for the info on where to get it ppl. Only thing I dont like is you have to click NO on install new mesenger every time it asks, but I can live with that. I hope Yahoo looks at this post board and fixes their piece of junk new mesenger. I downloaded the old 5.6 full version 1358.exe here:

27. May I add to the complaints too? It's been said before, now it's being said again...Yahoo Messenger 6 sucks worse than a F5 tornado in a desert. Windows XP hates it, my mouse hates it, my dial up hates it (yes some of us still use dial up yahoo!!), NT authority services hates it, my firewall hates it (what does that tell ya?), my program task manager hates it, my resources hates being squeezed to the point of exhaustion, my anti-virus software hates it (that should give you another clue)... in conclusion of my experiences, I refuse to use Y.M.6. Can you say, "downgrade as fast as you can?".... I knew you could, THANK YOU.

29. I cannot install Yahoo at all! I had version 5.6 and was asked if I wanted to upgrade. I downloaded the update but it wont let me install the damn thing. I have deleted all mention of Yahoo from the registry, and tried once more but still nothing. What is going on? I have loads of friends I use Yahoo for that are wondering where I've gone! ALAN

30. but how can we install the new yahoo! messenger without the errors? is it really like that, one site told me to uninstall flash but it didnt work on me, i think there are other things that is in conflict with the new Y!M.... arent there full version solution for the new Y!M problems???? God, this searching sucks, well yahoo! sucks with their error!

31. Just to backup what others have said on this subject, the new messenger 6.0 is terrible. They call it an upgrade but I think downgrade is more suitable. First off, the messenger window which holds your friends list is much to large, twice as big as versions past. I prefer a more compact window and they shot that all to hell ! Second, it seem to make my computer run slow ! It also screws around with my connection wizzard, something they have done forces my dsl login window to popup if I turn off my connection with yahoo still running. Almost like they are trying to force you stay logged into messenger. The new features are worthless...Who needs all that crap. The biggest problem is that I was getting error messages all the time, and down goes yahoo. Reminds me of one of the versions years ago that never worked right. Forget 6.0 ! I uninstalled and delelted anything that had to do with Yahoo and downloaded version 1358.exe. It's small it's comapact and it works ! That's all I ask for in a messenger ! My opinion is stay away from 6.0 unti they work out the kinks !

32. Dump Yahoo 6.0! It's more like a virus than a program. It started screwing up my PC in little ways, then got worse, then got terrible. By the time I dumped it it had:
-- Messed with my mouse
-- Shut down my firewall
-- Blocked my DSL Internet connection altogether
-- Crashed my computer every time I tried to move from one program to another
-- Pissed off my antivirus program which was pretty sure it actually WAS a virus
-- Corrupted my browser (these are the big things; there were lots more little ones)

Behold! I uninstalled YM 6.0, manually deleted everything in program files that said Yahoo, & used Regedit to wipe it from the registry. PC worked just great. I downloaded YM 5.6 & all is now okay. So it really wasn't a virus, but it sure acted like one.

DUMP YM 6.0 while you still can, before it shuts down your PC completely!

36. i have tried and tried to get yahoo to work. since i installed the new version i cant get it to load and ive uninstalled and installed countless times. I even tried the oldrer versions and that dont work. I dont know what went wrong. I deleted everything in program files with yahoo on it and tried to in regedit but it wont let me delete the damn yahoo keys for some reason. this is driving me crazy i have tried everything but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated.

40. The latest Yahoo Messenger has just been crashing. It freezes my system. I have been forced to restart my system several times. I even re-installed it more than once but no luck. So finally I just trashed it.

Luckily I found this site for OLDER YAHOO MESSENGER VERSIONS: I downloaded and installed version 5.6 dated 6th Jan 2004 and it works just fine. Just to be on the safer side I also downloaded a couple of the other older ones in case this web page disappears.

I don't know whose site this is, but hey THANKS A MILLION MAN !!!!!!!!!!!
