I hate when companies stuff a press release with too much information. That being said,
Yahoo Personals has a bunch of interesting items going on, many related to it
being National Singles Week (Sept. 19-25). Anybody
know there was actually a National Singles Week? Anyhow:
-
Teaming with the Improv to give couples special deals on the comedy club's "Comedy of Dating" events at their 18 locations. Couples can also enter a contest to win a trip to Hollywood to attend the taping of an HBO comedy special starring Richard Jenni. Jenni is one of the headliners for the tour.
-
Giving a bunch of stats from the 2004 Yahoo! Personals "Singles' Voice" Survey. Without putting you to sleep, it essentially reveals many people are not happy being single, humor is a big deal to romance and brunettes have more fun.
-
Revealed new dating tools to enhance the Personals service. Specifically, they've added a new Yahoo! Personals IMVironment to Messenger to allow singles searches and better ways to flirt. Also new is a upgraded version of Personals Mailbox. New offerings here include photo viewing next to an email from an interested suitor, frequently used responses which can be inserted to avoid typing things like the same rejection letter to losers over and over again and more logical grouping of messages.

1.
a possible correction:
"A whopping 73% of singles would date someone significantly older than themselves. Would singles step out on the town with a date 6-to-10 years older? More than 30% of males and 40% of females say "yes."
I'm guessing the 30% and 40% should be averaged to 30-ish%, not added together to get 73%. Still, even at 30-ish%, an interesting find.
