When Google rolled out Gmail, both Yahoo! Mail and Microsoft's Hotmail scrambled to compete on the storage issue. Neither met Google's raised bar of one gigabyte, but Yahoo! faltered behind Hotmail's 250 megs with its 100-meg offering. Now, Yahoo! is meeting Hotmail's standard, if not Gmail's, by providing free users with 250 megabytes.

10. Did anybody ever wonder how Yahoo, Google, or MSN manage to keep (250MB * # of users)GB of info? Even with biggest HDDs on the market, you'd only get around 4000 users on a single disk... Even if users would require 50MB each, that's still quite a bit of disk space...

11. @webcrawler: YOU can buy HDDs for less than a dollar per GB. Imagine how cheap is the HDD space for a big company.
@Jake: false. Yahoo Mail has great search capabilities. Not lightening fast, but very good. And I don't search my mail 3 times a minute, to need very fast search.
12. Hotmail did not yet increase its free account storage for all users its shame to MSN to keep us with 3MB in some Areas while Google gives more than 2000MB Yahoo provide 1000MB MY question until when Hotmail will remain freezed?? wake up MSN keep your customers other providers gives 1000 times what you offer

15. I noticed on November 15, 2005 that Yahoo e-mail was very slow to load.
I am on a very fast line and this is the first time Yahoo e-mail has been so slow.
It is almost unuseable.
I thought may they were attacked by spam.
The day before that repeatedly required me to type in the letters that appear on the screen for each and every e-mail.
I hope they solve the problem shortly or at least tell us what is going on.
I like Yahoo but this is trying my patience.

16. Sadly, my Yahoo mail account has been performing very poorly for the past 2-3 days. My server, us.f317, has always been a little slow anyway but never 2-4 minutes just to open a note. Composing a new note has been very problematic because of the excessive slow response. All I can suggest, save your new message text into your cut&paste buffer or use a text file first.

17. Yahoo for yahoo and its members. I am glad to see the public finally benefit from competition among the top bidders to use their email service. I am also pleased to see yahoo and google do something about the spam. I am not surprised to see MSN with substandard or overpriced products going toward a pay service to get the same thing we are used to getting for free. Gates will price himself out of the market. He once had control because he was the only source for many things. I think the public is finally fed up with substandard products.
