More on the upgrade of Yahoo! Mail storage… it's, um, not really here yet. At least, not for everybody. Certainly not in my account. And mainstream ink is starting to complain, both about Yahoo! and Hotmail phantom upgrades.
Yahoo! (and Hotmail) Slow to Deliver E-mail Storage
Reader Comments
(Page 2)22. One method that I have been using to get around the yahoo! slowness is this: when opening or sending messages, open, in a different window, another message from your inbox (send a request to yahoo); 10/10 times, both messages (the one in the main window and the newly opened one) will immediately come up. This has worked on my computer as well as other computers; however, results may vary...
In addition, when sending an email, I have lost messages to limbo because the yahoo! server never responded. I now copy the message that I have typed to the clipboard (CTRL-C) so that if the server loses it, I can start yet another email and paste the copied message in.

24. i'm having the yahoo problem too. i can not get my "my yahoo" page to open quickly like any other site i go to. i have broadband, but i have been researching this problem for about 20 minutes and it still has not opened. i have cleared my temp files, increased the cache size, restarted the machine. frustration is growing. i can check my yahoo e-mail with no problem. just can't get into "my yahoo". any suggestions, i can be e-mailed at mcspankyg@hotmail.com. thanx!
25. My yahoo mail was taking 5-10 minutes to open, then 5-10 to get to the inbox and so on. I spent 6 hours just trying to get my email read and others deleted. I deleted all my cookies, cleared all my mail, restarted the computer and nothing helped. I gave up and opened a hotmail account.

26. Computer IMac using IE ver. 5.2.3
Problem: Yahoo! mail service and access to mail box working slow, taking about 10 minutes to send/receive mail or get to mail box. Problem appear over last week 7/3/05.
Tested with Mac laptop using Safari browser platform and also tested with Dell PC using IE ver. 6.0 - no slowness problem getting to Yahoo mail.
Question: Possible issue using older versions of IE, either on a PC or Mac?
Is this problem being look at by Yahoo or Microsoft or both? Wonder if this is due to Yahoo working on its upgrade of its mail service.

31. My yahoo mail sometimes takes a minute to open an email. Othertimes it is fast . I can't find any pattern to this slowness. It seems to have started since mid-2005. I am only using 2% of my 1GB limit. Good to see others are experienceing similar problems. Maybe giving 1GB to everyone has resulted in this slowdown?
32. the yahoo email speed is totally unacceptable. if something isn't done, yahoo will lose all credibility!

35. it seems yahoo mail wants to compete with gmail of google in mail box space and this might have resulted in the recent slow problem, I think it time people start moving over to gmail.

36. I have had all the symptoms described and then some with Yahoo! site in general - for the past 8 months! The ONLY reason I keep my yahoo accounts is because of all the sign-ups and purchasing I have done with them, the business account we have established & because I use Yahoo! Messenger to talk to family and friends.
My b/f who lives in the United Kingdom and has a yahoo.co.uk account hasn't had the same troubles such as links on their site not working, the error page "Page Unable to Display" c.o.n.s.t.a.n.t.l.y. coming up, mail not working, mail slow, Yahoo! homepage not even loading at all, and yet overbroad they have even MORE services and more storage space than USA accounts. I'm sure Yahoo! knows just who'll put up with their poor service and who won't. Very frustrating! I have wasted so much time trying to get into personal and business mail accounts that I have finally gotten a gmail account. Eventually, if things don't change, I WILL take the time to transfer ALL sign-up accounts, friends, family, business, etc, to GMAIL. Even hotmail, of all sad e-mail services, is working better than Yahoo!! Unfortunate, truly. I've had my Yahoo! account since I was 15, and it was the first I ever used so it will be hard to go elsewhere but I will.

37. Up until three/four months ago i would have argued with God himself that yahoo represented the "bestest" free online services platform on earth (free email, free chat, free personal website, etc). But this recent snail-pace loading time for yahoo sites just about undos whatever benefits they may offer. the shocking thing is they're not offerring any explanations, they seem to be treating it as normal; AND IT HAS LASTED TOO LONG! really, those guys need to take their hands out of their holes and wake up. the era of taking consumers for granted because u offer them freebies is long gone. Yahoo should, at the very least, feel compelled to offer explanations for the service deterioration AND be seen to be making efforts to resolving the problems. as yoda would say, truly disappointed with yahoo I am.

I have been continuosly trying to sign in to yahoo email and it takes very long time and infact it's very annoying most of the time these days, it doesn't opens ,i am unable to open email inbox or the homepage, it's taking lot of time to load and infact it hangs doesnot opens,i use 1MBPS ISP, there is nothing wrong with the connection. i have been having this problem since a month .Please solve it.
39. As explained in this thread http://yahoo.weblogsinc.com/entry/5449124033511092/#c7825
Yahoo requires access to mobile javascript code to compose and send correctly. That means giving access to the sites that contains these codes. I.e. "opi.yahoo.com" and "ad.doubleclick.net" for UK yahoo.co.uk addresses and "us.js1.yimg.com" and "view.atdmt.com" for US yahoo.com addresses.
Unfortunately, my company firewall blocks access to the sites needed for the yahoo US addresses so there is nothing I can do to send an email from yahoo from work.
