Yahoo's Overture division has reportedly settled its part of a trademark lawsuit brought against it and Google by insurance company Geico last May. Google's portion of the case is expected to reach a full juryless trial. One can only hope that Google prevails in what is the most publicized lawsuit of its type. Google, and Google alone, owns its search results pages, and a company's trademark does not extend to words used as keywords. Kudos to Google for taking the matter to trial, and a pox on Overture for wimping out. Terms of the settlement are not publicized. (Thanks to John Battelle.)
