A small company that makes desktop widgets, Konfabulator, has been acquired by Yahoo!. This is a good and (probably) inexpensive move that will enable Yahoo! to give user more flexible access to its vast portfolio of information features. Konfabulator started as a Mac developer but has branched out to Windows, its site now indicating 646 Windows widgets—including such exotic and frivolous information nodules as Simpsons quotes, an eBay feedback meter, and a desktop metronome. A quick prowl through the Konfabulator Widget Gallery will make it clear how useful this thing can be to Yahoo!.

(Page 1)2. please explain the advantages of windows konfabulator. half the widgets do not work. the bbc "tuner" is invisible to the mouse and is inoperable (both large and small versions) and the only way to get rid of it from the desktop is delete the widget from the konfabulator directory and close and relaunch kon'. most clocks are too small to see and the calculators are either miniscule or will not accept keyboard input. the dictionary is unreadable. brook99a@myrealbox.com
