Ever since My Web 2.0 came along, I have been neglecting my del.icio.us account. I find the My Web environment
superior in a number of ways, but the content—that is, the quality of saved pages—is not necessarily better. By failing
to post my own saved pages I lose motivation to go into del.icio.us and check out the stash of others. I've recognized
this problem, but I don't want to take the time to save a page in both places. Now, Vanderwal.net has written a
combination bookmarklet for both networks. [Thanks
to Barb Dybwad at our Social Networking blog for finding this.]
Unfortunately, there's a problem in Firefox. The bookmarklet requires the popup blocker to be disabled for whatever
page you're trying to save in My Web 2.0. (The save button in the Yahoo! Toolbar does not require this.) Before even
the quickest mouse jockey can allow popups, the bookmarklet sends the browser tab to the del.icio.us log-in page.
You've lost your chance to save to My Web. As long as the Firefox popup blocker is enabled, the combination bookmarklet
cannot work as intended.
