Yahoo! is reportedly kicking off the week by launching a podcast search engine, though it's hard to say from this MSNBC scoop whether it will be a Web-based engine or something incorporated in the Yahoo! Music Engine. The latter would compete more effectively with iTunes than the former, unless Yahoo! bundled downloading and listening tools on the Web page. A straight-ahead search engine that does nothing but point to podcast source pages would be lame, and my bet (my hope) is that Yahoo! Music Engine will be upgraded. The podcast searching, sorting, playlisting, delivering market is getting mighty fragmented.
