Business 2.0 is running a longish piece on what it calls the Flickrization of Yahoo!—meaning the company has tagging fever and seems to be pushing the idea outward into every corner of the network. Indeed, social bookmarking and collaborative sorting has been the dominant emphasis of Yahoo!'s launches this year, from My Web 2.0 to Yahoo! Music Engine. Yahoo! vs. Google is reaaly community vs. machine. Yahoo! is bringing its human-editing roots into the present day by getting its users involved in sorting information. Google is all about intelligent algorithms; Yahoo! is all about smart mobs.
1. Opening Yahoo file (mail, folders, etc.) is taking an incredible amount of time in the last few days. Is there a systems wide problem?
