The Upcoming.org developers have been busy the past couple of days with a couple of
announcements of new features to the Event service.
This posts outlines the new Invite Friends feature that lets you add folks to your Friends list, who
can read more About You in your Profile (another new profile option
from a Y! Service - at least we don't need new accounts as well). In addition the Metroblogging network is using Upcoming.org for the display of local
events.
Then yesterday, they
announced the ability to export the Event details directly to Yahoo!
Calendar, Google Calendar and iCal downloads - this is cool, even though
you have been able to subscribe to events via RSS, I live in my Calendar and need things to beep at me when I need to
go somewhere.
They've also added a cool hook from Search to Y! Maps -
if you look at the Subscribe Options on a Search Result, you'll be taken to a Y! map of all the results.
