Two different alerts have appeared on the Yahoo! Chat front page:When viewed with Firefox:
NOTICE: UPCOMING CHANGES
To make chatting a better experience, Yahoo! Chat will no longer support Java-based chat software. This change will occur in the next few days. After that, you will still be able to access chat rooms using Yahoo! Messenger with Voice.

NOTICE: UPCOMING CHANGES
To make chatting a better experience, Yahoo! Chat will no longer support Java-based chat software. This change will occur in the next few days. After that, you will still be able to access chat rooms with Chat 2.0 software, but for best results we recommend using Yahoo! Messenger with Voice.
In short, if you're a Firefox user, the only way to the Y! Chat Rooms will be through Yahoo! Messenger. If you're an IE user, you can enter via the Chat 2.0 software (it gets loaded automatically when you click on "Enter Chat Rooms" if you're using IE) or use Yahoo! Messenger.
I'm not a 'chatter' and have no idea if this is a big deal or not. How will this affect you?

1. It will not make much difference to people chatting because as far as I have seen most users chat through Yahoo messenger and mainly new users chat through their browser.
