Yahoo! Go has been promising to unleash the internet into your home through
your television for a few months. That promise has been kept. A visit to the Yahoo! Go TV site reveals a beta release of a Windows application
that will send a video signal from your computer to your TV. It is said elsewhere that this is the result of Yahoo!'s recent acquisition of Meedio.
Of course there's that little matter of how to run a wire from your computer to the TV.
Realizing this, Yahoo! has prepared a nifty little
shopping list with pictures to help you out.Why go to all this trouble you ask (well, I did anyway)? Instead of huddling around your 17" monitor and cluttered desk to view your Y! Photo album of the latest family gathering, you can show them from the comfort of your TV viewing room. You can also see pictures from on-the-fly Flickr searches. You can also play DVD's or saved video files on your computer and watch them on your TV! Kind of eliminates the need for the ol' DVD-player don't it? And there's a lot of Yahoo! Premium content in audio and video form that is easily accessible through Yahoo! Go - TV. There's more features to discover at the Y! Go - TV site.
If you have a TV tuner card and remote control you'll really be cooking with the free DVR software as you are able to play and record shows with no monthly fee!
I'm probably going to breakdown and make all the necessary investments to fire this up in my home (computer is only a few feet from the TV). I'll let you know how it goes. Maybe Chris is already to go and can beat me to that (he's got all the best toys!).

1. I'll be taking a look at this today, although getting it on my TV may take some doing...
Since my main TVs are HDTV, I'll need to right tuner cards to get the full display on :)
